Norway is very different from Switzerland in many ways. The landscape feels wilder and more untouched, while Switzerland is more compact and cultivated, with steep mountain slopes and expansive Alpine meadows. What strikes me every time I visit Norway is the sense of peace and quiet. Especially in the off-season, you hardly encounter anyone on the roads. At times, it feels as though you have the entire landscape to yourself.
And if you travel through Norway, you had better bring your camera. The landscape is an almost fairytale-like succession of trees, rocks and water. The work I have made here is the starting point for a new, larger series: ‘Tre, Stein, Vann’ (tree, stone, water). Once again, I am looking for stillness, space and emptiness, but this time in black and white and translated into photogravure. I would love to tell you more about this fascinating process at a later stage.
